some last minute Halloween craftiness...

And a very delicious and easy breakfast recipe:
Banana Oat Jumbles

* 3 large ripe bananas, smashed
* 2 cups organic rolled oats
* 1 cup chopped dates/cranberries/raisins/dark chocolate chips
* 1/3 cup coconut oil
* dash of salt & 1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine ingredients. If bananas are not incredibly ripe, add a couple of teaspoons of raw honey and some cinnamon.
Drop spoonfuls of batter onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
Yum!!!!!

Monday co-op

Mondays are so special for us! I feel so blessed that my family does not have to experience the typical hectic Monday morning rush. I feel so blessed that we get to spend Mondays in the woods with people that we love - singing, laughing, hearing stories, and creating together. I'm sending out gratitude to the four corners of the Universe for this amazing opportunity to participate in our Waldorf co-op.

Willow and Indigo helped with getting the fire started on this chilly October morning...

We said our verses, sang, and heard the leaf story. Michael did a lovely job, and even captivated Nova with her wonderful story-telling...

Our craft today was so much fun! We traced leaves onto (already dry) watercolor paintings, cut them out, and taped them onto sticks. Some of the kids cut holes for eyes and had leaf masks. They had a leaf parade while we sang and played instruments...

Lunch!

We explored a new trail...

We found a nice persimmon tree, and had a little treat. The kids were climbing all over picking persimmons and eating them. They were as sweet as honey!

A few more beautiful pictures of the woods in Autumn.... (that middle one is a big beautiful Cat's Claw that we found on the trail)...

And some of my favorite wild women ever slipping and sliding down acorn hill...

What a joyful way to start the week!

nature walk Friday

Clover was up early making ginger molasses cookies for our friend Allison. We were all feeling excited about meeting Allison and Felix for a nature walk, but Clover was really anxious to go. She loves to give gifts!

We met at a state park and took a long hike around the lake. The leaves are so beautiful right now.

We saw lots of beautiful ducks and geese, a cute little turtle, and a tiny snake.

The trail that we walked was such a nice combination of flat and hill-y, smooth and gnarled with roots, sunny and cloudy. We had the perfect October weather, full of breezes sending red and golden leaves swirling to the ground.

When we got home, Tim helped the kids with one of my favorite Fall leaf crafts - leaf rubbings!

Monday co-op

For the first time in a couple of weeks, the weather cooperated and was absolutely beautiful for co-op! We had such a wonderful time. The children helped Carrie and I with starting a fire.

I love morning yoga in the woods. Look at all those little down face dogs...

We changed stories this week. Our new story about an autumn leaf being blown from her tree is so lovely and perfect for this time of year. Kate did a wonderful job leading us in our new verses and songs and telling the brand new story. Our craft was stringing felt leaves onto a piece of yarn. All of the kids chose leaves, and Clover sewed the leaf banner for our family. Nova was in charge of handing her each leaf. He did a good job with deciding on the pattern!

After lunch, we went on a little adventure. None of us knew the trail behind our new meeting spot, so it was a beautiful surprise for all of us! The kids had lots of fun jumping over the little creek, climbing the many hills, and creating a dirt slide!
