CALIFORNIA!!!

We crossed into California with cheers & laughter. The desert was long and hot, but we finally reached the bottom of the mountain. From the check-in area at Sequoia National to our campsite was (supposedly) an hour long drive. It took us two and a half. I felt *crazy* by the time we reached our campsite in the dark. The poor bus climbed the last four miles at about 5 miles per hour with a park ranger following. Tim put in all of the transmission fluid that we had left, and we all crossed our fingers pretty hard and prayed. It was worth the wait. Sequoia National is one of the most beautiful places on Earth...

There were lots of cute animals around our campsite. We had tons of stellar jays and chipmunks. There were squirrels & deer, too! On our last day in the forest, we saw a mama and baby bear. Tim got a picture of the bears on his blackberry, so I will post those soon.

We went on some beautiful hikes...

One of the most beautiful hikes was the one through the Giant Forest to the General Sherman tree. The kids were amazed!!

More pictures coming soon!!
