circle game

Clover took this picture of me & the boys playing a fun circle game. The person holding the ball sings the first line of a song and then rolls it to the next person. That person sings, rolls, and so on.... Very fun and very simple.

This was Nova's first time playing and he loved it. He kept making up silly songs that no one could finish properly (in his opinion). haha!

tree climbers

Clover has been climbing this one for a couple of years, but Indigo and Willow just got brave enough recently to give it a try....

There is something so amazing about climbing a tree!!

watercolors

Our watercolor painting went so well today. All of the kids were so happy and relaxed while painting. Clover painted a bald eagle for part of her main lesson work. We just started our Man and Animal Block 2, and this week we are focusing on the eagle.

Willow and Indigo spent a long time painting a beautiful sunny day. We were actually fortunate enough to have sunshine this afternoon, and they were so inspired by that. It was sweet to see them working so hard, and their paintings turned our beautifully.

And my little Nova Bear just painted. He is so serious.

Bridgid/Imbolc/Candlemas

The 2nd day of February belongs to the Goddess Brigid. To celebrate, we tell stories and read poetry, bake a special dessert, and gather all of the candles in our house for blessing. When we light any of these candles during the coming year, we are reminded of the sacred flame that dwells within every Being.

Bless these candles burning bright,
Bless their shining day and night.

This is one of my favorite celebrations of the entire year.

half way to Spring!

Spring will be here soon!

So, for now, we will enjoy the slippy slidy ice and the crunch of leftover icy snow under our feet and the blustery wind!

snowy fun!

Nova got to try out his birthday sled (thanks Gma & Gpa!). We got more ice than snow in the end, but we had a great time playing while it lasted...

We also took a long walk through the woods while it was still snowing. Clover and Indigo built little snow people and we visited the faerie house to see how much snow our tiny forest friends got on their home.

When snow is in the forecast, we always make sure that our bird feeders are as full as possible. One of our favorite snowy day activities is bird watching. The sparrows were covering both feeders for most of the day. We also had titmice, Carolina wrens, chickadees, our beautiful majestic cardinals, and some house finches that we haven't seen since last year!

co-op

The kids have been working on these beautiful, amazing huts. Luckily we are some of the few people to visit the preserve at this (freezing cold) time of the year, so they have been able to work on their creations from week to week!

Lunch was so pleasant. The weather warmed up nicely and we didn't have to wear our heavy coats while we ate.

We took a nice walk and enjoyed the sunshine...
